Their story
Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al-Alji Al-Khalidi is a Saudi jurist, poet, and merchant. He was born and raised in Al-Hofuf in Al-Ahsa. He began his studies after he was fifteen years old, memorizing the Qur’an and studying religious sciences based on Maliki jurisprudence with a number of Al-Ahsa sheikhs and scholars, and he studied the sciences of Sharia, logic, and philosophy with some Ottoman judges. He worked as a merchant, taught Maliki jurisprudence and grammar at the Al-Hubaish Mosque, and headed the Al-Ahsa delegation to the Ottoman governor of Basra, demanding relief from taxes for the people of Al-Ahsa. He died in his hometown. He has several jurisprudential systems and a collection of manuscript poetry. His grandson is Abdullah Muhammad Al-Rumi.
