Their story
Ada Deer was an American politician and university professor. As an activist, she opposed the federal dissolution of Indian tribes in the 1950s following the initiatives of Republican Senator Arthur Vivian Watkins. During Bill Clinton's presidency, Deer served as undersecretary of the United States Department of the Interior and head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
