Albrecht Ritter Mertz von Quirnheim, Albrecht von Mertz for short, was a colonel in the General Staff, a resistance fighter against National Socialism and was part of the inner circle around Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg in the assassination attempt on July 20, 1944.
