Their story
Aleksandr Romanovich Lúriya, sometimes transcribed as Alexander Luria, was a Russian neuropsychologist and doctor, of Jewish origin. A disciple of Lev Vygotsky (1896-1934), he was one of the founders of cognitive neuroscience and neuropsychology. With the publication of his two most important works, Traumatic Aphasia (1947) and The Superior Cortical Functions of Man (1962), based on his investigation of cases of brain injuries during the Second World War (1939-1945), he became the leader of world neuropsychology.
