Alf Niels Christian Ross was a Danish jurist and legal philosopher, a leading exponent of Scandinavian legal realism. His most influential work, On Law and Justice (1953), defended an empirical view of law, rejecting metaphysical and normative approaches. He proposed that legal norms should be analyzed based on their effectiveness and real application in society, instead of being based on abstract concepts.
