Their story
Aribert Ferdinand Heim was an Austro-German doctor and SS member. He is accused of having murdered numerous prisoners in the Mauthausen concentration camp as a camp doctor. From 1962 onwards, Heim was a fugitive and was wanted under an international arrest warrant under the name Heribert Heim. Also referred to in media reports as "Dr. Death" and "Butcher of Mauthausen", he was at times number one on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of the most wanted Nazi war criminals. In February 2009, ZDF and the New York Times reported that Heim had died in Cairo in 1992. In September 2012, the Baden-Baden regional court declared Heim dead and closed criminal proceedings against him.
