Their story

Bartholomäus Koßmann was a Saarland politician from the Center Party. He held numerous high government positions during the Saar period, from 1920 to 1935; Among other things, he was senior government councilor, chairman of the state council and, from 1924, a member of the government of the Saar region. He was considered a staunch opponent of the Nazi regime, which is why he was imprisoned several times during the Nazi era. After the end of the war, Koßmann became a co-founder of the first Christian Democratic party in Saarland, the CVP. He was a member of the Saarland state parliament from 1947 until his death.
