Betty Everett, born November 23, 1939 in Greenwood, Mississippi, died August 17, 2001, was an American singer. She is best known for the song "The Shoop Shoop Song", a major hit in 1964. The song reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April of that year. Furthermore, she also became famous for the song "Let It Be Me" which was a duet together with Jerry Butler. She was also the first artist to record the song "You're No Good" in 1963, which in 1975 became a big hit for Linda Ronstadt. Everett continued to record music into the 1970s and into the 1980s.
