Čestmír Šimáně was one of the most important Czech nuclear physicists, the founder of nuclear research in the Czech Republic. He mainly dealt with experimental nuclear physics, especially the construction and use of accelerators, the construction of radiation detectors and the technology of nuclear reactors.
