Constantin Zureik born April 18, 1909 in Damascus and died August 11, 2000 in Beirut, is an Arab intellectual, university professor, specialist in modern Arab history and who was one of the main theorists of modern Arab nationalism. He developed political ideas like the “mission of the Arabs” and “national philosophy,” which would become the main political concepts of Arab nationalists. He was a great supporter of intellectual reform in Arab society, emphasizing the need for rationalism and a moral revolution.
