Emanuel Löffler

Emanuel Löffler was a Czech and Czechoslovakian gymnast, an Olympian who won two silver and one bronze medal from the Olympic Games. In Amsterdam 1928, he won silver for vaulting horses and in the team competition, and at the same time bronze for the formation on the rings. At the following games in Los Angeles, he was supposed to be one of the favorites, but not enough money was raised, so he did not travel overseas in the end. He took part again in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but just before the games he tore a shoulder muscle. Nevertheless, he competed and took part in the 4th place of the Czechoslovak team. He also had three world championship titles, in 1930 he won the rings and won gold in the team competition. He also won the third gold with the team, at the championship in Prague in 1938. Between 1931 and 1933, he also worked for two years in the United States of America as a coach of the Sokol county there. His civilian occupation was first a postman and later a clerk at the Vinohrady Savings Bank. After the Second World War, he devoted himself to training youth.
