Salah Jadid, Syrian military officer and politician, leader of the extreme left-wing bloc of the Syrian Regional Arab Socialist Baath Party, and de facto leader of Baathist Syria from 1966 until 1970, before he was overthrown by the Corrective Movement led by Hafez al-Assad.
