Joseph Ferdinand Cheval, better known as the postman Cheval, born April 19, 1836 in Charmes-sur-l'Herbasse (Drôme) and died August 19, 1924 in Hauterives (Drôme), is a French postman famous for having spent 33 years of his life building a monument that he called the "Ideal Palace".
