Their story
Gladstone Adams was a British photographer, known for the invention of the windshield wiper, although the first patent for a windshield cleaning device controlled from inside the car was granted to the American Mary Anderson in November 1903. He chaired the Urban District Council of the town of Whitley Bay (Northumberland), on the northeast coast of England. As a member of the Royal Air Corps, he achieved the rank of captain.
