Their story
Herbert Blankenhorn was a German diplomat. He was a member of the Foreign Office from 1929, headed the economic department of the German embassy in Bern in 1943 and became head of department in the Foreign Office. After the Second World War, he became one of the most influential professional diplomats in the Federal Republic of Germany. The first beginnings of German foreign policy in the post-war period are associated with his name.
