Their story
Karl Hubert Lanz was a highly decorated veteran of World War I and later a Wehrmacht general in World War II with the rank of General der Gebirgstruppen. Among other things, he was the holder of many military decorations, including the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Branches.
