Their story

Ignaz Seipel was an Austrian prelate, Catholic theologian and politician of the Christian Social Party. From 1921 to 1930 Seipel was their party chairman. He dissolved the first coalition with the Social Democrats and served as Chancellor twice. On the one hand, Seipel's time in office included the restructuring of state finances and the amendment to the Federal Constitution in 1929. On the other hand, particularly in his second term, he fought the Social Democratic Workers' Party and Austro-Marxism and supported the militarization of paramilitary militias such as the Home Guard.
