Their story

Ivan Mykolayovych Boberskyi is a Ukrainian teacher, organizer, funder, theoretician and practitioner of Ukrainian national physical culture. He was born in the village of Dobrogostiv, Galicia, Austria-Hungary, in the family of a Greek Catholic priest. Graduate of Lviv University. Studied in Vienna and Graz. Teacher of the Lviv Academic Gymnasium. Contributed to the formation of "Plast", the author of the name of this organization. Chairman of the Society "Sokil-Batko" (1908-1918). During the First World War, he was the treasurer of the Ukrainian Riflemen (1914-1918). He worked as the head of the military press department of the State Secretariat of the ZUNR (1918—1920). Plenipotentiary representative of the ZUNR government in the USA and Canada (1920). From 1932 he lived in Yugoslavia, in the city of Trzych, where he died. He edited the magazines "News from Zaporizhzhia", "Sichovye visti". He compiled a number of textbooks: "Moving Fun and Games" (1904-1905), "Football" (1906), "The Meaning of Movement Societies" (1909) and others.
