Their story
Janusz Korczak, actually Henryk Goldszmit, was a Polish military and pediatrician as well as a children's book author and important educator of Jewish descent. He became known primarily for his work on behalf of children, particularly in a Jewish orphanage. He voluntarily accompanied the children from his orphanage when they were deported by the German occupiers to an extermination camp, even though that also meant death for him.
