John Alec Entwistle was an English bassist, songwriter, singer and French horn player, best known as the bassist for the rock band The Who. He is cited as one of the most influential rock bass players of all time, who by creating a special aggressive playing style influenced many current and later bass players such as Steve Harris, Lemmy, Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, Phil Lesh, Noel Redding, Billy Sheehan, Chris Squire, Duff McKagan, Krist Novoselic, Markus Großkopf, Mike Watt, Matt Freeman or Peter Hook.
