John Malchase David Shalikashvili, born June 27, 1936 in Warsaw, Poland, died July 23, 2011 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord outside Tacoma, Washington, was a general in the United States Army. Shalikashvili was US Defense Chief from 1993-1997, and before that SACEUR and military commander of the United States European Command from 1992-1993.
