Jorge Pacheco Areco, is a Uruguayan statesman, president of Uruguay between December 6, 1967 and March 1, 1972. Member of the Colorado Party, he applied an authoritarian policy in a context of serious economic and social crisis, reiterating each year exceptional measures and ordering military intervention in the unions.
