Lao She, born February 3, 1899 and died during the Cultural Revolution on August 24, 1966, is the pen name of Shu Qingchun (舒慶春), a Chinese writer of the modern period. Lao She is the author of novels, but also plays and short stories. Its language is close to that spoken by the Pekingese, who provide most of its characters.
