Their story
Manoel da Costa Lima was a Brazilian builder and entrepreneur, a pioneer in opening a connection between the then south of Mato Grosso and São Paulo, responsible for the first steam navigation on the Paraná River, in 1906. He founded the towns of Porto Quinze de Novembro, Bataguaçu and Santa Rita do Pardo, in addition to participating in the founding of Anaurilândia, all in Mato Grosso do Sul. He was also known as Manoel Cecílio da Costa Lima or Major Cecílio.
