Marko Vovchok, born Maria Oleksandrivna Vilinska, in the first marriage Markovych, in the second - Lobach-Zhuchenko (December 10, 1833, Ekaterinynske estate, Yeletsky district, Oryol province, Russian Empire - July 28, 1907, Dolynsk village, Tershchyna, Russian Empire - Ukrainian writer, translator Her. The works had an anti-serf orientation and gained considerable literary fame in Ukraine in the 1860s after the publication of the Ukrainian-language collection "Narodni Ovidanyi". plagiarism of her Russian translations in the 1870s almost ended her literary career.
