Their story
Max Mendel was a businessman, consumer cooperative, board and supervisory board member and social democratic senator in Hamburg. He was one of the last two Jewish members of the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the only former Hamburg senator to be murdered by the National Socialists.
