Their story
Michael E. Krauss is an American linguist who focuses primarily on Na-Dene languages and secondarily on Eskimo-Aleut languages. Krauss, who was among the first participants of the Linguistic Society of America who emphasized that endangered languages were a global problem and wanted to raise public awareness in 1991, has since then supported efforts to record the data of endangered languages and revive them. He served at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which he joined in 1960, until his retirement. He served as director of the Alaska Native Language Center from 1972 until his retirement in June 2000.
