Michel Laclotte, born October 27, 1929 in Saint-Malo and died August 10, 2021 in Montauban, is a French art historian and museum curator, specialist in French and Italian painting of the 14th and 15th centuries. He led the prefiguration team of the Orsay Museum until its opening (1986), and was director then president of the Louvre Museum (1987-1994) where he led the transformation work of the Grand Louvre. On his death, he bequeathed to the Foundation for Art and Research a fund allowing the creation of the Michel Laclotte Prize to reward the research work of young curators or conservation officers.
