Their story
Michael John Morwood, also known as Mike Morwood, was an Australian archaeologist and anthropologist. In September 2003, he led an expedition of Australian and Indonesian archaeologists looking for evidence of the prehistoric migration of Homo sapiens from Asia to Australia on the Indonesian island of Flores. An expedition on Liang Bua Cave Island uncovered hominid remains between 13,000 and 74,000 years old. Michael Morwood and colleagues came to the conclusion that this was a new species of hominid, which was named Homo floresiensis, popularly nicknamed "The Hobbit". The new species theory has gained many proponents and opponents and has yet to be satisfactorily confirmed or disproved.
