Their story

Natalia Yuryevna Chmyryova was a Soviet tennis player. She was considered a prodigy in her sport in the 1970s and made her senior debut at the age of just 14 at the French Open in 1973. She later won, among other things, three Grand Slam junior tournaments, a gold medal at the Summer Universiade, a Soviet championship title and played her way to the semi-finals of the Australian Open. As a result of sports policy headwinds and the resulting setbacks - she opposed the ideas of the Soviet association with her strongly emphasized individuality - she ended her career early and without any major successes as a professional.
