Nicolae Ion Grigorescu was a Romanian painter and, alongside Ștefan Luchian and Ion Andreescu, is considered one of the co-founders of modern Romanian painting. His later work shows impressionistic influences. He often sought his subjects in everyday Romanian rural life at the end of the 19th century.
