Their story
Nikolai von Astudin was a Russian landscape painter. He published commercial works under the pseudonym Emil Winter. There are slightly different information about birth and death dates in German files. According to the Munich registration form, the parents were Helene and Basil Astudin. He became widely known for his paintings on the Rhine and the numerous reproductions of his views of the Rhine. His work is an expression of the Rhine and Eifel romanticism of the early 20th century.
