Their story

Nicolás Zapata Aguilar was a Mexican politician, member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party. He was born in 1906 in Cuautla, Morelos, the son of General Emiliano Zapata and Inés Aguilar. He was cared for by his sister María de Jesús Zapata even though he was the only son who accompanied his father during the Mexican Revolution. He was taken prisoner by federal forces in Cerro Prieto and taken to Tepalcingo, where he managed to escape thanks to the help of Policarpo Castro. He was Municipal President of Cuautla from 1936 to 1938. He was a local deputy for Cuautla to the XXXVII Legislature from May 4, 1938 to May 3, 1941 and a federal deputy to the XL Legislature of the Congress of the Union of Mexico for the district of Cuautla. He died on August 17, 1979 in Mexico City.
