Redha Malek

Reda Malek is a politician and former head of the Algerian government, succeeding Belaid Abdel Salam from August 21, 1993 to April 11, 1994, that is, during the rule of Ali Kafi, Liamine Zeroual, and his successor, Mekdad Seifi, and one of the most prominent negotiators in the Algerian delegation in the Evian negotiations with the French authorities to establish Algeria’s independence. Aside from the Algerian issue, Reda Malek was one of the most prominent negotiators to free 52 hostages at the American embassy in Tehran, a crisis that ended in 1981. At the party level, in 1995, Reza Malik founded and headed the National Republican Alliance Party. Reda Malek has written a number of publications, including “The Real Bet, the Bet of Modernity in Algeria and in Islam,” the book “Algeria in Evian,” and another on “The History of the Secret Negotiations 1962/1956.” He was born on December 21, 1931 AD in the city of Batna, and died on Saturday, July 29, 2017 AD, corresponding to Dhul-Qa’dah 6, 1438 AH, after suffering from illness at the age of 86. year. Former Algerian Minister of Information, Abdelaziz Rahabi, told Agence France-Presse, “Algeria has lost a witness to its time, an enlightened patriot.” He added that Reda Malek “was one of those who laid the foundations of Algerian diplomacy.” He was buried on Sunday, July 30, 2017, in the Alalia National Cemetery in Algiers, where other presidents and leaders lie.
