Their story
Robert Max Wasilii Kempner was a German-American lawyer. The Prussian civil servant was released by the National Socialists in 1933 and emigrated to the USA. At the Nuremberg war crimes trials he worked as deputy to the American chief prosecutor Robert H. Jackson. In March 1947, an employee of Kempner found the so-called Wannsee Protocol, in which the planned organization for the “final solution to the Jewish question” was recorded in writing. In the period that followed, Kempner was committed to punishing National Socialist perpetrators and compensating victims.
