Roman Ráž byl český spisovatel, dramatik, dramaturg a scenárista, jenž se prosadil v období normalizace. Napsal 25 próz, 15 televizních her a řady rozhlasových her a seriálů. Čtyřikrát byl navržen na Státní cenu za literaturu, byl nositelem Ceny Egona Ervina Kische a Chlumecké literární ceny Jaroslava Golla. Napsal rozsáhlou historickou ságu – trilogii Lázeňské dobrodružství, Lázeňské naděje a Lázeňské ozvěny. Jeho román Prodavač humoru byl zfilmován režisérem Jiřím Krejčíkem.
