Rose Shahfa

Rose Atallah Shehfa is a women's rights activist and Lebanese poet. I was born and raised in Beirut. She studied at the American School in Beirut and the English School in Broummana. She left her homeland for Damascus in 1909 and lived there until 1925, where she was active in feminist circles and literary clubs that invited her to preach. She is considered one of the pioneers of the feminist intellectual movement in the Arab Renaissance. She was one of the most prominent female figures who worked in the field of various associations and institutions until she assumed the presidency of the Lebanese Women’s Union in 1944. During her life, she gave many speeches and lectures in clubs in Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, and wrote some articles on social topics. Jurji Nicola Baz collected her works in a book called “The Revelation of Motherhood” and published it in 1950.
