Their story
Necip Süreyya Serdengeçti, Turkish economist, banker and academician. One month after the 2001 economic crisis, he was appointed as the president of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye and continued this duty until 2006. During his presidency, annual inflation in Türkiye fell to single digits for the first time since 1970, falling to 9.3% in 2004. On January 1, 2005, 6 zeros were removed from the Turkish lira and New Turkish Lira banknotes were put into circulation.
