Tobias Dantzig was a Russian-American mathematician of the Baltic German group, the father of George Dantzig, and the author of Number: The Language of Science and Aspects of Science. The first of the aforementioned books was widely accepted by the non-mathematical public and had a glowing comment from Albert Einstein.
