Their story
Tony Robert Judt was a British-American historian who was particularly interested in 20th century European history. From 1995 he was director of the Remarque Institute at New York University, which he founded. Judt became known to a wider public through his book The History of Europe from 1945 to the Present (2005). In 1996, Judt was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 2007 a Fellow of the British Academy.
