Władysław Roman Orlicz was a Polish mathematician who worked on functional analysis and topology. He was a member of the Lviv School of Mathematics and several mathematical theorems and concepts are named after him, such as the Birnbaum–Orlicz space or the Orlicz–Pettis theorem.
