Walter Bedell "Beetle" Smith was a United States Army general who served as General Dwight D. Eisenhower's staff chief at Allied Headquarters during the Tunisia campaign and the Allied invasion of Italy. He later served as Eisenhower's chief of staff in the Allied Expeditionary Force from 1944 to 1945.
