Warner Oland, real name Johan Verner Ölund, was a Swedish-American actor. His best-known role was as Chinese private detective Charlie Chan in the film series of the same name from 1931 until his death; He also repeatedly embodied characters of Asian descent, such as the supervillain Fu Manchu.
