Their story
William Augustus Newell, was an American physician and politician, a three-term member of the United States House of Representatives. He served as the 18th Governor of New Jersey and as Governor of Washington Territory from 1880 to 1884. He is best known for the Newell Act, which created the United States Life-Saving Service.
